Coming soon...honestly!

Showing soon.
Coming soon...honestly!
Five yards of mulch. Turns out we only need four.

Life happens. I got a full-time job that started in June, we took some summer vacation time (including a trip to Nova Scotia and a long-planned staycation which turned out to be a week with Covid), and then there have been some trips to help out family.

But last week I took a day off to do work intensively at 615 and hired a painter to paint the closets I wasn't getting to, and I cleaned up the yard and laid down fresh mulch and....

Now I just want to tidy up the basement, including the third bathroom that's on that level, and then I will be okay showing our darling! So, look for an open house sometime in the next few weeks.

Price? I'm not sure yet. I'm doing research on comps. Many of you readers out there may not know that, in the Dark Ages, I worked as a mortgage broker on Long Island for five years. That plus reporting on real estate for East Lansing Info has taught me a lot about appraisals and reading comps. The good news is that prices have been going up in East Lansing and housing stock of this quality is scarce.

Speaking of which, gosh I love this window seat in the dining room.

When our son was home a week or so ago, he helped put up a new bird feeder (not shown here), and the chickadees and cardinals have already declared it their new favorite breakfast spot.

The light in the house has been gorgeous with the fall colors.

But honestly, there's not a bad season in this house. Even the winter is wonderful because of the significant southern exposure it receives, the sun pouring in.

In case you're curious, no, I'm not going to hire a real estate agent. No one knows this house like I do. I can speak to all its charms (including the new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.). I live next door, making it easy to schedule showings. And I can explain why this is a great neighborhood and make sure we sell the property to people who will be great additions to the very special enclave that is Oakwood. There's no point in paying someone else to do a job I can do way better in this case.

Sure, this means we won't have access to the Multiple Listing Service. I'm fine with that. I'd rather take the time and networks of neighborliness to do this right. This house and all we've put into it deserves a private, very careful sale. Bob and Ann are fine waiting.
